When I came home from work today, these flowers greeted me along the way to my door. They made me smile so I wanted to share them with you. While I photographing the flowers, this bee stopped by to visit. I thought it was nice for it to buzz into the photo.

I hope your summer is going well and that you are enjoying every single day. Remember, take time for a deep breath and to just look around you.

I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend. Last night I couldn’t get to sleep. As soon as I laid down my eyes were wide open. But that was okay since there was fantastic heat lightning displaying horizontal bolts across the sky! So I did what every good photographer does and headed right out to photograph the show. I know, don’t worry, I was safe.

These are the best ones from the selection. I played a little with filters and and sharpened the bolts somewhat. On my photo bucket list I still have listed to capture vertical lightning. But it was still fun to get these shots.

After I put the camera away and went back to bed sleep did find me for a few hours. I hope soon to be able to sleep the night through for several nights in a row. But until then, I’ll make the most of the sleepless hours.

Me and my dog

Me and my dog

This was taken with my cell phone. My dog was sitting on the back of the couch using my shoulder to hold himself there. His head was on the window sill. I grabbed my phone and called his name. He turned immediately and I snapped this shot!

He’s about 11-1/2 years old. Some days he really shows his age, like the past few months he didn’t feel that great. I had him to the vet a few times but they said it was just age. About a week ago he was back to himself, playing and barking and running around. It makes my heart happy that’s he’s feeling better.

If you have a pet you know how bad you feel when they aren’t feeling well. They can’t tell you what’s wrong, and I think that’s the hardest part. But at least he’s back to himself.

Give your dog a rub behind the ears!

After the rain

After work today I walked my dog as usual. There were a few dark clouds around but I thought we would be okay. We turn this one corner and I happened to look back. Oh no. There was a sheet of raining pouring down and coming after us! It was almost in slow motion as I started walking faster but the rain gained momentum and encapsulated us in just a short few seconds. Of course my dog didn’t seem to notice this deluge. He causally meandered through this back field behind my place. I did not dance in the rain but I wasn’t in a hurry. It felt cool and refreshing.

We were soaked when we got back. I laid a towel out for my dog to roll on and shake (he’s good that way). I took a separate towel to dry off too.

So after the rain the flowers looked beautiful, bright, and colorful. These were two of my favorites I took.

It kind of reminded me that even though rain in our lives isn’t fun, we still get through them and come out better for it. I mean, it totally sucks sometimes while you’re going through the rain. But when the sun comes out, and it always does, things look much better.

Don’t worry what others think!

Beautiful sunset

07.11.2015

Good day folks! I was at Presque Isle State Park last evening and captured this shot. These two were looking for shells and gazing at the sunset. I thought it was exceptional last night.

I took my dog there and we walked about. There was a gentle breeze. The temperature was comfortable. I’ve missed being out in nature. I’ve been focused on my running (training for a half marathon) and other things that I had forgotten to take care of me, do the things I enjoy (besides running).

I’ve had insomnia this past week, too, which has made life challenging. It’s difficult to focus and care about stuff. So last night we took in some fresh air and nature. I then slept about 9 hours total. I feel a little better this morning.

It has been six months since I’ve started the blog. I have learned a lot this year. One thing I am learning is to do more things for me – sometimes I focus so much on what others want (or what I perceive they want me to do) that I forget to go after my wants, do the things I want to do, just for me, even if they don’t make sense to others. Let me tell you, folks, life is better that way! I’m enjoying ride! Who cares what other people think of me or my decisions. As long as I’m not hurting anyone or myself, why the heck not?!

Enjoy your weekend and do something for yourself!
