I was able to leave work during lunch today to capture these photos on Presque Isle State Park. It was fun to get some fresh air, enjoy the warmer temperatures, and take in the beauty. Don’t forget to look around every so often, take in nature!
McConnells Mill State Park on a beautiful fall day
Relaxing by the water
Ahhhh Sunday was a simply beautiful day at McConnells Mill State Park. Many people were there out hiking and walking the trails, taking in the views. I’m hoping we will get a few more nice days like this in the coming weeks. I love fall but not so much what comes after.
The first photo above is one of my favorite rocks to photograph. I love how the water flows over the rock to create a mini-waterfall.
Take time to enjoy the weather wherever you are, if you can!
So here’s another photo from my visit to Benezette, PA last weekend. I just thought this one was funny. This bull elk is using his antlers to scratch an itch on his back! And of course this photographer had to capture it. I debated on whether or not to share. But hey, it’s my blog! I shared it.
Sometimes nature is beautiful. And sometimes, it’s hilarious. Get out there and enjoy it!
Here are some autumn colors to brighten your day. I took these over the weekend in Benezette, PA. The east coast is the best place in the country to live in the fall. It’s so beautiful with vibrant colors.
Try to get out and enjoy nature before it starts to snow!
A rare sight for this photographer – I got to see a calf nursing on momma. My camera was focused on the bull elk grazing nearby. Sometimes I get so focused on one thing that I miss what else is going on. Thankfully my beau drew my attention over to this magnificent scene.
I’ll share more photos throughout the week. I got some excellent fall foliage photos, too.
This weekend I was out of town (again) – this time visiting Elk County in Benezette, PA (near St. Marys). It was an awesome time! We got there in time to hike a little bit before dusk and spotted a bull elk with his cows. The first and third photos were taken Saturday evening. It was not really my intention to get a silhouette but it turned out that way. Pretty neat. The middle photo was taken today – a handsome bull elk among the wild flowers.
I very much enjoy taking day / weekend trips to see wildlife and visit other places. We live in a beautiful country, folks. Get out there and enjoy it!
I spotted this nest today way up high on a tree limb while walking my dog. I had not seen it before today, even though we walk that way often. It’s amazing what’s hidden in nature right in front of us! I just loved how the autumn leaves were bright against the grayness of the nest. I’m not sure what kind of nest – some bee, but it sure was a treat to see it.
After our walk, I couldn’t wait to get the camera and head back to the tree. What a fun sighting in nature to photograph! Look up and keep an eye out – this time of year is so beautiful! I hope to post more findings soon. I’m traveling again this weekend . . . . . .
It was a fun morning at Freedom Falls in Rockland PA. I’ve never been to this waterfall before. It was pretty cool . . . once we traversed the steep decent down a rocky, muddy hill. It wasn’t too bad, just needed to be careful.
I left the shutter opened for 30 seconds in order to catch the swirl of the leaves. This slight motion showed up as a pretty awesome effect. I’ve always wanted to capture swirls in water – it was a bonus the leaves were there to add to the effect.
It was raining upon leaving for this little adventure, ending up on a dirt, muddy road. The heavy cloud cover allowed the longer exposure to enhance the photo.
So I encourage everyone to go some place you’ve never been to before – you never know how it might turn out!
I’ve been going through old photos (aka, cleaning off camera cards), and found this one. I had originally discounted it because I cut off the top of the ship. But upon further review I decided I liked it and wanted to share.
I heard the ships will be back in 3 more years. I’m hoping at some point to actually get the ships with their sails down! But still, they were great ships to see. This is the El Galeon – she’s a beauty!
I’ll see what other photos (hidden gems) I have on cards and share them with you. Of course, if I take a spectacular photo, I’ll post that too!
