When I do a photo shoot on location or in the backyard, I always envision what I want to capture. I have a plan and a vision for what I want to accomplish in the photograph. I knew when I planned to photograph motorcycles that I wanted to capture one in black and white but leave something in color. I wasn’t sure what that would be but it was going to happen.
So I captured my vision in the photo above. I just wish everything worked out like that for me!
We saw this wonderful flag flying high and beautiful and I captured her unfurling in the sky. Old Glory is a great symbol of our country. I hope everyone remembers the sacrifices made by our founding fathers and their vision for our great nation.
I was at my mother’s this evening, relaxing after dinner. I looked over and saw my step-dad’s flag presented to my Mom at his burial. Our beloved Harry was a World War II veteran. With the photo above I tried to capture part of the flag and reflection on the glass tabletop.
I don’t think a visit with my Mom goes by without some mention of Harry. She misses him every day, all day. I think she misses someone to talk to, someone to wake up with and that daily routine they always had together. I miss him too.
I remember the day they married, I resented him. I didn’t want him to be there when I still missed my Dad. But as my one brother said, Harry just weaseled his way into our hearts. He was a great man.
We owe our freedoms to him and many men and woman who have gone to war. May the stars and strips forever wave.
