Peaceful nature

Leesburg Falls

The only place I feel at peace is out in nature behind the camera with a waterfall in front of me and the sound of water rushing all around. I trekked down the side of the hill, only slipped twice on the ice (don’t tell my beau), to get closer to my peace. Sometimes I need a few minutes to get a away, just a moment to myself to be at peace, relax, and empty my head. I only think of the next photo and how to photograph nature at her best.

Everyone should have a happy place to go, a place of peace, a place to just breathe. Nature is that place for me.

Frozen in time

Frozen leaves

While in the kitchen I happen to look out through the window of the door to see these leaves and how the freezing rain droplets hung on them. I just thought it would make a good photo. These leaves were frozen in time it seemed.

I’m still playing with my new camera but this time of the year I don’t very often see things to photograph, well, except snow. I’m already looking forward to Spring!

More waterfalls

Frozen waterfall

I went back to Leesburg Falls in Grove City, PA this afternoon. I just had to try out my new lens! It was amazing! I loved the wide angle and clear focus. It was fun playing with it. I hope to get it out a lot over the coming months.

I have an awesome trip coming upĀ – I’m hoping to take photos of sunrises, sunsets, and great landscapes. I’m so excited! Stay tuned!

I’ll share more photos from today’s shoot throughout the week!

Have a great week!

Cold but beautiful

Winter at McConnells Mill

I couldn’t sleep last night. Nothing was wrong. I just couldn’t fall asleep. Eventually I got maybe 4 hours before getting up and taking the dogs for a walk. It was a cool morning, in the mid-20s, but no wind so calm and kind of beautiful.

I decided I needed to be out in natureĀ . . . it helps to get myself righted. I headed to the mill and was awe struck by the massive amount of water flowing over the dam. But along the water was this branch with ice crystals hanging down. It looked beautiful but menacing! And, cool at the same time!

No words of wisdom today. I just wanted to share the photo with you. Have a wonderful week!

Encased in Ice

So the sun came out today and it made me very happy! However, it disappeared behind some clouds when I got out at lunchtime to take some photos at the dock. But that’s okay. It was still great to see the sun most of the day. Where I work I travel between buildings and even though the wind was cold, I still took a little time to soak it in!

I’m hoping the sun will come back out again tomorrow! It certainly helps to lift my spirit.

If I don’t post again before Christmas, I wish you and yours a very Merry Christmas! Enjoy your family and friends and remember, it’s not what’s under the tree but who’s around your tree.
